Boone Released Mugshots Explained

A mugshot, also called a booking photograph, records an image associated with a booking or correctional file. It can help distinguish people with similar names and connect a record to its source agency. It does not prove conviction. It also does not show whether the person is still at Southwestern Regional Jail, was released on bond, completed a sentence, entered supervision, or transferred elsewhere. Those facts require a separate court or DCR record.

Boone County uses Southwestern Regional Jail and Correctional Facility for adult detention. WVDCR operates the facility in Holden, Logan County. The official jail search is current-oriented, and no former-profile retention period was verified. A photo once associated with an active result may disappear when the current profile changes. That loss from the public view does not establish that the source record was destroyed, sealed, or tied to a completed release.

Boone Official Photo Channels

The strongest photo channels are the agencies that created or maintain the image. WVDCR Policy Directive 142.00 lists a file photograph among public offender-record categories. The arresting agency may hold a separate booking photo. A court record can confirm the related case, but the court is not ordinarily the main photo repository. Each route has a different role and a different limit.

West Virginia VINE is useful for custody-change notice, but the Boone research did not verify it as a released-photo archive. Commercial aggregators may also display copies, yet they can be stale, misidentified, or detached from a later disposition. No such site is an authoritative source for release, and no commercial mugshot or removal-service link belongs in an official-source workflow.

Note: Record the agency and image date because a prison file photograph may not be the same image created during a Boone booking.

Boone Jail Photo Limits

Similar county names in other states can lead to unrelated products, so the correct statement is that no Boone app was located or verified. An app from Kentucky, Indiana, Missouri, Iowa, or another state is not a substitute.

A current jail photo, if the official profile displays one, only links the image to the current record. A parole eligibility date or projected minimum discharge date is not enough because both can precede or differ from the physical event.

Note: A DCR file photo can document state custody even when it is not the image from the original Boone arrest.

West Virginia Photo Posting Limits

West Virginia Code §62-1-6a is narrower than a blanket mugshot-secrecy rule. It limits certain law-enforcement agency social-media posts of booking photos for alleged minor offenses, subject to listed exceptions such as conviction, fugitive or imminent-threat circumstances, and court order. DCR and its subordinate organizations are excluded from that section's agency definition. The statute does not itself make every booking photo confidential or bar a focused public-record request.

The statutory text should be read with the agency type, alleged offense, and later court result in mind rather than treated as a universal deletion rule.

A subject or representative may request agency removal within 14 days after a qualifying dismissal, failure to indict, acquittal, reversal, vacatur, or nullification. The rule concerns agency social-media posting. It is not a general deletion command for news publishers or private copies. No West Virginia anti-pay-to-remove statute was verified, so no claim should be made that one exists.

Correct Boone Mugshot Records

Expungement can change the public path to a Boone image and its associated case. West Virginia Code §61-11-25 addresses qualifying nonconviction records, while §61-11-26 addresses qualifying convictions. A valid order can lead to sealed court records and expunged agency records under the statute. Eligibility and timing depend on the exact case. Do not infer eligibility from a brief online summary.

Commercial aggregators create more risk because they may copy stale material, attach an image to the wrong person, omit the disposition, or retain a page after an official record is sealed.
